Internally Lubricated
  • Improve the tribology properties (wear and friction resistance) of a broad range of base polymers.
  • By addition of internally lubricating additives like PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), silicone oil, molybdenum disulphide (MoS2), graphite, aramid fibres, carbon fibres and glass fibres.
  • Also available in combination with improved mechanical and thermal properties.
  • Available in flame retardant grades (UL-listed).
  • Available in colour when no carbon additive is used.

In product applications in which a sliding part moves over a counterpart the friction resistance (deformation and adhesion) and wear resistance of the polymer material used in these applications plays a very important role. Addition of internally lubricants to base polymers reduces the friction resistance and increases the wear resistance of these polymer materials and therefore enhances the lifetime of the product application.

When internally lubricants are added to base polymers no externally lubricants are needed. This means the contact surface area between the moving counterparts stay clean (enhancing the lifetime of the product) and an extra time consuming step in the manufacturing process is eliminated (cost savings). Furthermore with the right choice and amount of internally lubricants slip-stick movements are minimized and squeaks and other noise from moving parts are reduced or eliminated. Witcom Engineering Plastics delivers internally lubricated compounds for product applications in which the contact surface area of the moving counterparts can be a combination of polymer on metal as well as a combination of polymer on polymer.
